Once again time changes

The clocks went back an hour. They say that we can sleep an extra hour I wish that was true…I’ve been awake since 2am so that extra hour is not doing me any good. Why is it when one cannot sleep the brain starts wondering and I find myself regressing to my childhood back to the old homestead were I and my siblings grew up a house full of love music and laughter.

My Dad was brilliant he made us laugh and he put music in our heart’s. And Mum bless her she had a lot to contend with, raising eight children she also looked after two elderly parents. Dad really was a musician but that alone did not put food on the table so he had a day job and at the weekends of festivals he played his music.

Remember Dad planting the vegetables in our garden we were fortunate that we always had plenty vegetables and fruit. Growing up in a small Island in the middle of the Atlantic now I understand when my Dad used to say to us that we were very lucky to live in a little corner of paradise, I suppose we did!

Our Homstead was surrounded by sugar cane and banana plants lots of fruit trees too. I can still see in my minds eye all the fruits through the seasons the sugar cane remember chewing it very sweet. And then in the autumn the grape picking. So that extra hour that I should’ve been asleep transported me to my Island my Madeira…
